  • How does your billing work?
All projects require a 50% deposit paid to start. If your estimated project price is 45,000 wc @ .005 pw, the fee would be $225; i.e., 45,000 wordcount x.005 per word = $225). Consultation fees are billed by the hour, prorated as needed, rounded to the nearest hour; i.e., if the fee is $35, two hours would be $70. For audiobook proofs, if the fee is $10 per hour and the audio runs 3 hours and 38 minutes, the time would be rounded up to the nearest hour; i.e., this would be $40. Alternately, if the time is 3 hours and 28 minutes, the fee would be prorated to the half hour, or $35.
  • What types of edits do you do and what are they for?
The TL;DR version is: Developmental edits – assist with creation of the story content Content edits – expounding on the preexisting content of the story Sensitivity edits – ensuring the content is culturally respectful Copy edits* – checking the content for continuity and errors Line edits* – checking for grammar issues, typos, etc. Alpha reads – reading to check anything the copy or line edit missed, with detailed feedback Proofreads – reading to check for anything the copy or line edit missed, with general feedback Web content reviews – reviewing website content for typos/inconsistencies *for my edits, these tend to overlap. This can vary depending on the editor. For more information, please check out my process
  • Which edits do I need?
It all depends on what you need for your book/project. Every project needs different edits, sometimes only one, others more than one. During the consultation we can discuss which edits you may need to ensure that the work fits the project and isn't a waste of your time or budget.
  • Need an example to figure out pricing?

Consultation fees are billed by the hour, prorated as needed, rounded to the nearest hour. For example, if the fee is $35, two hours would be $70. For audio book reviews, if the fee is $10 per hour and the audio runs 3 hrs and 38 minutes, the time would be rounded up to the nearest hour, or $40.
